I found this spot on Craigslist a few months before first year started. It's a 3 BR / 2 BA, two doors down from Cafe Romeo. We booked directly with the landlord, and not through an agency.
The rent is not inclusive of utilities, which come out to an extra $70-$100 or so per person per month (cable, electric, gas). The colder months are more expensive since you'll want the thermostat up.
Location is great; only a 10 minute walk to school, and right on a shuttle line (there is a shuttle stop 1 block from the apartment). As mentioned earlier, it is right next to Cafe Romeo (sandwich shop), and a block away from Nica's (deli/small grocery store).
The apartment comes with 1 dedicated spot, although if multiple roommates have cars, you will have to work it out somehow. That being said, a block away on Humphrey Street (east of Orange St), there is a entire section of the block that does not require you to have a residential parking pass. I've found spots there to be readily available at all hours of the day.
There is a coin op laundry in the basement, and I've only had to wait for machines maybe once or twice in 6 months.
There is no central AC, but you can bring your own window AC unit for the summer months.
Overall I'm very happy with both the apartment and the location.
